Commitments We Make to Ourselves
At the beginning of the year I started working from home full-time. I haven’t done so since 2020 and was nervous about how I would do being at home all day. I decided that I would build a morning routine. My alarm clock goes off at 8 am and I want to be out of bed by 8:30. My goal is to make my coffee, eat breakfast, and move my body.
I came across a 30 day yoga challenge (Yoga with Adriene) on YouTube and decided that is what I would do. It took me 31 days to complete, but I kept my commitment with myself.
This got me thinking about how the commitments we make to ourselves impact us. When we keep them, we build trust and confidence in ourselves. We get to see the results, whether they are physical, mental or spiritual. When we don’t hold those commitments shame, guilt, and negative self-talk can occur.
It is my belief that we can take stock of the situation, and make adjustments in a non-judgmental way. “Get back on the wagon” and try again.
Imagine the best version of yourself - the life they live and how they treat themselves and others. Then the next time you have a decision to make, ask yourself “what would the best version of myself do?”
What commitments have you made and stuck to?
