Going for a Mindfulness Walk
I’ve been working full time from home since January 2026 and it's been quite a change. One thing I didn’t realize until this year was how much I relied on work to get me out of the house for fresh air and sunshine.
These days I have to get myself to go for a walk. It’s amazing how much better I feel after doing something so simple. Some days I will walk and listen to music or a podcast, other times I won't. I just allow myself to take in the surrounding noises.
Being in the moment during my walks allows me to engage in mindfulness. Using all my senses (sight, smell, taste, feel, hearing) to pay attention to what is around me while enjoying my iced beverage. I usually walk away with at least one picture of a flower, tree, animal, building, or something else I found interesting or beautiful. Over time my camera roll is filled with things I enjoy looking at. Mindfulness doesn’t have to be complicated, and doesn’t require a lot of time. This is called “the art of noticing" (concept by Rob Walker).
What have you noticed on a walk that you may have missed if you weren’t fully engaged in the moment?
Love and light,
Kelsey
